A fantastic opportunity to visit some of Brazil’s finest
sights and dramatic scenery.
The Brazilian Highlights tour is escorted by a local guide
in Manaus Day 3 to Day 5 but is not escorted in Rio, Brasilia, Salvador or Iguaçu
but assistance will be provided locally in each destination.
Rio de Janeiro: 4 nights
Amazon: 2 nights
Brasilia: 1 night
Salvador: 3 nights
Iguaçu: 2 nights
Fly Varig Airlines from Heathrow via Sao Paulo arriving Rio
next day.
Transfer to the Merlin Hotel. Afternoon at leisure (B).
Fly to Manaus. On arrival transfer by road then boat for
approx 31/2 hours to the simple and rustic Amazon Village Lodge via Encontro das
Aguas, the famous “Meeting of the Waters” where the yellow-brown Solimoes
and the blue-black Rio Negro meet to form the Amazon. The lodge rooms built of
timber and thatch have private bathrooms with cold water and showers (B,D).
A morning walk through the jungle to experience the rain
forest at close quarters will be the highlight of today. After lunch enjoy a
motorised canoe trip and maybe some alligator spotting! (B,L,D).
Depart by boat to Manaus, for flight to Brasilia, Brazil’s
futuristic capital city. Overnight Manhattan Hotel or similar (B).
Day at leisure to explore Brasilia then fly to Salvador and
transfer to the Hotel Tropical da Bahia (B).
Time to enjoy Salvador with its strong Portuguese influence,
beautiful churches and mansions. (B).
Fly to Iguaçu via São Paulo and the Das Cataratas Hotel,
where you will have a full day on your own to enjoy the breathtaking spectacle
of the Iguaçu Falls, one of the world’s most amazing natural wonders (B).
Fly to Rio and transfer to the Le Meridien Copacabana for
three nights. Relax on the beach or enjoy an optional tour of Sugar Loaf
Mountain or Corcovado and take in a colourful Samba Show (all payable locally)
(B).
Day at leisure before your Varig Airlines flight via Sao
Paulo arriving Heathrow on Thursday. Alternatively, extend your stay in this
exciting city or the eco-friendly resort of Costa do Sauipe.
