Kikambala lies about 27 kilometres north of Mombasa beside a reef-protected, soft, white, sandy beach. The resort consists mainly of hotels, lining the beachfront, where all the local daytime and evening entertainment can be found. Diani Beach Mombasa Coast

With the Shimba Hills National Park Reservation and miles of palm-fringed sands at its doorstep, Diani Beach is justly popular. It is the most developed resort on the south coast, however its laid-back tropical appeal remains timeless. The coral reef offshore provides diving and snorkeling opportunities and glass-bottom boats patrol the area. Nightlife is mainly hotel-based.

Bamburi Beach

Part of the reef-protected, white sand beach stretching north from Mombasa, Bamburi is some 14 kms from town. Scuba-diving, snorkeling and glass bottom boat trips are available over the reef, along with other watersports. The Hallas Nature Park is just south of the resort where you may spot hippo, crocodiles, pelicans, antelope and giant tortoises. There are many western-style restaurants and plenty of discos.

Malindi

A thriving tourist town with a lot of history, Malindi's attractions are its wealth of shops and holiday facilities, a labyrinthine Swahili quarter and a busy market, with beaches extending to the north and south. The abundance of Italian restaurants and influence here has lead to it becoming known as the 'Little Italy' of Kenya. Offshore is the spectacular coral reef, part of the Malindi/Watamu Marine National Park, often thought of as one of the best along the coast. Big-game fishing is a popular pastime along with surfing, particularly through July, August and September. NB. Diving in Malindi may not be available from May-July due to tides and weather conditions.
